Discover Halifax

Together we are Stronger.

‘Together We are Stronger’ is an art installation and environmental design project designed in partnership with the Halifax Cruise Terminal. Halifax welcomes over 300,000 cruise ship visitors every year, eager to see classic Canadian landmarks. But when visitors first disembarked at the Terminal, they were greeted by little more than a makeshift information area.

Together with Discover Halifax and the Halifax Port, District re-imagined the space to incorporate a flexible visitor zone, sculptural elements that celebrated the region’s rugged nature, and interactive AI-powered displays. The desk area is made of up individual wheeled sections so the space can be re-purposed as needed for events. The hanging sculpture was created using reclaimed materials and rope salvaged from shoreline clean-up along the coast of Nova Scotia. The sculpture is displayed in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. With special thanks to the Scotian Shores Cleanup Project.
